NORTHERN REGIONAL NEWS WELCOME TO THE NORTHERN REGION AREA OF THE WEB SITE Letter From Lisa Perry - Northern Region Director NORTH REGION UPDATE… Hello! I’m looking forward to another busy and exciting year ahead. In 2007 the Northern Region really came together.  Last years meetings started with an ACO Meet and Greet and had thirteen in attendance.  Other meetings included a Biologist from NJ F&W Endangered and Non Game Species who highlighted The Rattlesnake.  A few officers took advantage of additional training that was offered and became “Rattlesnake Certified”.  NJ F&W Black Bear Program provided us with an excellent and informative presentation on our Black Bears.  Later in the fall, a NJ Wildlife Conservation Officer spoke to our group about their role in the animal field and provided resources on how our agencies can work together. There were a steady number of us at these meetings and we welcomed a few new members last year as well.  By continuing our own education, attending Regional meetings, conferences and workshops we are not only growing as individuals, but as law enforcement officers that are making a difference in the communities we serve.  We are the voice for the animals.  We are here to protect and preserve the well being of those animals, both domestic and wild. We are here to enforce without prejudice and equality, local and state statues pertinent to all animals, their control, their keeping. We are here to inform the citizenry, legislative and administrative personnel of the significance and diversities of the Animal Control Officer.  We are here to participate in the active development of resolutions on the state level of Animal Control, Animal Welfare and Animal Cruelty issues.  Your attendance at our meetings proves your dedication to your profession. The North Region is made up of ten counties; Sussex, Passaic, Warren, Morris, Union, Bergen, Essex, Hunterdon, Somerset and Hudson County.  Remember to renew your membership and please invite other ACOs to join us at our meetings.  As always, membership applications will be available.  Also, take pictures so we can update our website.    Hope to see you soon!!
