Deer wrangled and saved in Westville

WESTVILLE — Police and Gloucester County Animal Control Officers had to wrangle a deer that got itself caught up in a residential area of Summit Avenue here Tuesday morning.

Animal Control Officer Owen Sturm jumped onto the doe's back, threw a cloth over her eyes and hogtied her to safely relocate her, according to Police Chief Fred Lederer.

Boa Found by Moving Company

Dale and BoaAnimal Control Officer Dale Sloat from the Borough of Hopatcong, New Jersey was called to a storage rental complex where a moving company reported finding an eight-foot Boa that had crawled out of the sofa were putting in temporary storage for a resident. Officer Sloat was able to take the snake to a rescue organization in his town until the owner called to say he had lost his snake and thought it had gotten out of the house somehow. The snake was returned to its owner who was very happy to find his snake alive and in good condition.
