Job Title: Assistant Animal Control Officer (Police Department)
Description: The Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills is seeking an assistant animal control officer for the Police Department. Hours are to be 20-30 hours per week plus on-call hours for nights and weekends.
Requirements: A current and valid certificate as an Animal Control Officer issued by the New Jersey Department of Health, and a current New Jersey driver's license. Minimum one year of experience working with animals. Must be compassionate with animals and able to lift 50 lbs. Must work well with others including employees, volunteers and the public.Must have the ability to understand written and verbal instructions as well as the ability to read, write and speak English. Must be able to complete reports, answer phones and take messages.
Duties: Under supervision, performs varied animal control related duties. Duties will include patrolling the township and enforcement of animal control laws and ordinances. Additionally must clean, feed and care for animals at the animal shelter, as well as facilitate animal adoptions. Must handle / trap / capture stray wildlife, dogs and cats; respond to animal calls/complaints; complete reports, maintain records and make notifications / referrals.
